What type of rental can take place at the Cinémathèque québécoise?
The Cinémathèque québécoise does not accept rental requests for partisan or religious activities, as well as private parties, such as personal birthdays. We reserve the right to deny any event that does not correspond to our cultural mission.
Which formats are accepted in the Cinémathèque québécoise screening rooms?
In order to ensure the quality of the screening, DCPs are prioritized in our two movie theatres. Digital files such as ProRes or DnxHD are also accepted. For our detailed technical requirements, please contact us.
When should screening materials be received by Cinémathèque Québécoise?
The screening material must be received five working days before a private screening. The Cinemathèque québécoise reserves the right to cancel the event if the material is not received within these deadlines.
Is it necessary to contact Cinémathèque québécoise in advance to book a space?
The Cinémathèque québécoise hosts its own programming all year round, so it is recommended to contact the rental department in advance to ensure availability. Screening rooms are generally available during the day. For evening screenings, it is strongly recommended to contact us several weeks in advance.
Are private rental events part of the Cinemathèque québécoise's official programming?
Except in the case of a prior agreement with the programming department of the Cinémathèque québécoise, rental screenings are not part of the regular Cinémathèque québécoise programming and its communication tools.
Does the Cinémathèque québécoise offer catering services?
The Cinémathèque québécoise does not offer catering services (either for food or warm beverages). However, it is possible to use the external catering company of your choice. An additional fee will be charged on your rental contract should you use an external caterer for your events. All catering companies must meet our guidelines and requirements.
Can alcohol be served at private rental events taking place at the Cinémathèque québécoise?
The Cinémathèque québécoise holds an alcohol service permit, according to the regulations of the Régie des Alcools et des Jeux du Québec. Alcohol must be provided by the Cinémathèque québécoise and served by its service staff. A selection of competitively priced products is available for private events.
Is it possible to reserve only a section of the Café-Bar & Terrace?
It is possible to reserve a section of the Café-Bar & Terrace, during its opening hours, for a small group.
