Mel Brooks, a hilarious wit

On January 10, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded an honorary Oscar to Mel Brooks, the mastermind behind such comedy classics as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs, in recognition of his long and successful career. Without question, this honorary Oscar was highly deserved.

The Sommets du cinéma d'animation unveil their superb 22nd edition's poster, signed by Daniel Gies, filmmaker and co-founder of Montreal studio E.D. Films, who received the Guy-L. Coté Grand Prize last year for his film RETURN TO HAIRY HILL! Daniel is also directing the festival official trailer, which will be released shortly.

The visual presents a fantastic creature with a vegetal appearance, posing a warm and inviting gaze on the viewer. At its feet, Montreal unfolds, vibrating to the rhythm of the seasons. It celebrates both the city and the Sommets.
