Synopsis

Once reserved for high-level athletes, the consumption of anabolic steroids has taken on endemic proportions among adolescents and young men passionate about bodybuilding. Boldly addressing the taboo of male beauty standards, Adonis offers an on-the-ground investigation into the heart of this muscle-building machine and questions the reasons and physical, psychological, and social risks of this pursuit of the perfect body. While showcasing his own vulnerability, the director unveils the magnitude of the looming public health crisis.
